Slow & Steady (win the race?)
Since Ramadan, my ancestors have let me know that I am in a period of learning how to slow down. My friend provided me a message; that I often move so fast that I literally pass my blessings and abundance right up. So out of obedience and honestly the need for rest, I decided to integrate daily practices of slowness (moving intentionally) and/or stillness into my lifestyle. It began with just being aware of where I move entirely too fast, and where that movement was causing more slip-ups than necessary. I shifted how I started my day, how I transitioned from one event & activity to another, and how I spent time on each singular moment of my day. It was honestly the wake up call I needed and a warm invitation to further create a lifestyle of ease and purpose.
While I can talk about each astrological transit that aligns with this much needed shift; all I will say is, it couldn’t have been more divine. I am learning the older I become and the more I continue on this journey, my body actually could use more slow, intentional, movements of power. That moving fast; while very much in my Gemini nature, is extremely exhausting to my Capricorn rising. One of the greatest lessons I have learned is the power of patience and deliberation. Being able to move from a space of more solid inner stability and not feel the need to compensate for some building on that stability by controlling the ways & time with which things happen. Instead of controlling the time I create space for it; as much as may be necessary in each moment of every day. Besides, if we are operating in a space of alignment; which we are, what’s the rush?
I recently came across an image that shows scenarios of two people each climbing a ladder. One person’s ladder had many rungs which were closer together and the other person’s ladder had less rungs which were spaced out. The message was to show the importance of small consistent steps. How over time they add up and while the pace you may be moving at may be slower or less monumental, you are working your way up your ladder towards your destiny, so continue the small work. Anyone operating in their purpose will tell you the small things that you do every day add up; the daily disciplines, say you will.
Does slow and steady win the race? Considering you’re in a race with no one other than yourself, I’d say yes; if the goal is to become better and work closer towards your purpose and destiny. The greatest advice a fellow spiritual peer gave me was, “You have time. Take YOUR time.” Put in your 10,000 hours or however many are deemed necessary for you. The work you are doing today will bring the fruit to fruition. The same day you plant the seed is not the same day you enjoy the harvest.
